We are living in challenging times. Emily Dickenson’s poem, “Hope is the Thing With Feathers”, is what inspired me for the Annual “Pretty Darn Small Art Show” at Hardy and Nance Studios. Hope is the resilient and enduring force that helps us ‘hang in there’ while we work through difficulties.

I chose to paint watercolors of some of the local Houston birds that I enjoy observing and listening to in my yard. I hand-formed the 4” x 4” clay tiles and treated them with a surface that accepts watercolor. I sealed the tiles with a watercolor-safe varnish and attached sawtooth hangers on the back.
